Two things Iearned on my first 2011 hunt

The first thing I learned is that the ground is not thawed everywhere. Most places it is like rock about 2 inches down. The second thing I learned is that where it is thawed it is MUDDY. Then it strted to rain but I did find 1 pull tab, 1 beer can, 1 nickle and 1 dime. And so it begins for 2011. I;m ready to swing that thing.

You're right. Better times are coming. Supposed to be nice this weekend, but rain in coming changing to snow...Ahhh March in Wisconsin! Supposed to be nice tomorrow but I got drafted to drive one of the floats in the StPat's Parade tomorrow That will eat up a big chunk of the day.

In the northern part of Wisconsin, we are just starting to see a few bare patches of ground where the snow has melted. Cannot come fast enough for me.

I went out yesterday all ready to hunt and when I got to the sled hill I figured would be bare, there were kids sledding! It's amazing just how much snow is actually left. Two coins is a start. You can look back and laugh when that nickel and dime are buried in your pile!

MrGee, I experienced the same thing last Tuesday. It was nice and sunny, but the exposed ground was super frozen. I thought it was spring sort of, but now we're seeing more snow and the temp is dropping down again. This is a long winter for me.
