Two silvers...First bling of the year!

REVIER

Well-known member
From a lawn I have been hunting for the last few weeks, the hits keep coming.
3 wheats, not an ID bracelet but some other sort of tag with my name, my third silver coin from here and 5th for the year...plus my first silver jewelry piece of the year which is a very nice and uniquely shaped miraculous medal.
Short hunt but a great time!

By the way...
Hunted on lower sense all day and picked up a total of 17 good targets and just a few pieces of trash like old pop tops and tiny iron.
I ID'd most of the pop top targets before I dug them but I dug them anyway just to be sure and in case they masked other better targets.
The soil was wet and muddy the day before after a rain, but yesterday the conditions were perfect.
Every hole was easy to dig, the soil was still moist but not enough to stick to anything.
Don't know if the lowered sense helped me find these new targets or the moist soil but they showed up pretty easily with small movements of the coil.

In this moist soil most trash targets seemed huge and were until I dug a hole or at least stuck my digger in the ground to start a new plug which disturbed the matrix and seemed to reduce that target signal a bit.
All targets were pretty jumpy, unless they are very shallow I get no really stable signals in this dirt, but several did firm up a bit enough to make me dig after turning and hitting them from 90 degrees.
This could be because some were on edge but all the ones that acted like this probably weren't.
I just have to dig the for sure dig me signals and keep examining the more iffy ones betterr too.
Still not digging the bulk of the trash but I don't mind digging a little more to have success like this continue.

Settings were...
Disc 23...Thresh -4...SL speed...no notch...1F tones...senseless was on 50 most of the time and when I dug the religious medal, on 60 when I dug the dime.

Great way to start off 2016! Finding silver never gets old. Congrats and hope there is more that follows :beers:

Excellent finds, REVIER! Your strategy is a good one: those "iffy" targets often turn out to be the find of the day! Best of luck and...

Happy Hunting!
