Two silvers and three wheats, whaaaat?

Did it again.... last minute decision to get up and go. 32 degrees and some snow off and on but hey I can dress for that. There is an apartment complex here that started out as officer/enlisted housing for the University back in the 40s. Later, it was converted to married student housing (off campus) and after that just low income housing. Has had its share of names from Blaine Manor (Blaine St) to now the Elysian Apts. Most common name locally is White Harlem.
Took a few days for the official permission from management to come thru but good to go!! I know this place has seen its share of detectors off and on over the years but I figured maybe enough clad to make a day of it.

First thing out of the truck and 10 steps from where I started I see silver in the hole, whaaaat?? Carefully pull it out, smooth off the shiny quarter and see a Caribou.......1969 Canadian quarter. Ok, start breathing again. Just a couple of feet (or maybe I should say a meter....🙄) I hit another quarter again and same damn thing a Canadian quarter, 1986. Geez, most of had a bunch of draft dodgers return. Ok, settle down, not silver!

Maybe 15 minutes later I hit that iffy dime/penny signal so dive in, shows maybe 4” down. Pull out a wheatie! I can see 195? so have to wait to clean. Run carrot around the hole and another hit! Wheat but cant get the date, my first double wheat score. Maybe 10 feet away I did another wheat, this is getting promising!! Keep working a back and forth grid pattern and when I get to the end I make a 180 and start back, always making sure to slightly overlap the line. Just as I turned I hit a dime signal that didnt sound off coming the other way. So in I go thinking another clad dime at 4-5” deep. Nope, broke open the clod and out pops silver; 49D Rosie!! Hoot!!
Maybe 30 minutes go by and after digging clad dimes and Memorials the next “beep” probably the same. Nope, out pops another silver; 59D Rosie!!! Been awhile since a double day......

Get home and clean the wheaties, 44S, 45S, and a 53D. I was dry but cold and gloved hands a bit wet from the damp ground but I was definitely not feeling no pain. Not counted the clad yet but surprisingly no quarters (other than the Canucks) so makes me wonder if someone didnt have a very good detector and set up wrong or just had discrimination set way high and cleaned out quarters or bigger only.

Great JOB.

Nice score on the 49-D Rosie. All the 49's(P,D,S) in the Roosevelt Dimes are somewhat elusive. They are not rare by any means, but with their mintage numbers, they can be hard to find. I just found my 1st ever 49-D last year and still no 49-P or S yet. Glad you could get out and hunt in the weather.

Yep I’m out everyday I can be it beach or land good job!! Better than being stuck indoors.

5 old coins including silver makes for a fine hunting day. Good job.

No quarters besides the Canada ones? Doesn't seem that unusual to me. At least in my case, I don't find quarters every outing. HH Jim tn
