Two Short Hunts in Mid-Missouri

I made it out for two short hunts before Christmas. I am using the 6x8 SEF coil and a more open version of the stock coin program pattern. The first was an old public park that I thought I had hit pretty well with the Pro coil during my early hours with the E-Trac. I ended up digging one Barber dime, two Mercury dimes, a Liberty Head ("V") nickel, and some wheats. This goes to show what a smaller coil and low, slow swings can accomplish! the Barber dime actually rang in at 12-37/38 like a zinc penny, but I dug it because of the 5" depth.

Second hunt was at a baseball field that is now an open lot. It was used in the 1950's and 60's, but was later covered with fill in some spots for erosion control. There I found two silver Roosevelt dimes, two wheats, and a $100 peso Mexican coin. The big Mexican coin (about the diameter of a modern US dollar coin and twice as thick) rang up as a 12-42/43 on the screen. Also at the ballfields I found a small aluminum "One Henny Penny" play coin. The reverse said" Chicken Feed - Play Coin." I imagine it was part of a play money set. I hope to get out one or two more times until New Years, because the weather is supposed to be decent in Mid-MO later this week.

As an aside, does anyone know a good coating for the 6x8 SEF coil? Or should I just purchase a coil cover for it?
