Two separate probs with new F-75

Stacy

New member
Hi folks,
Sad to say, but I've sent my new F-75 back to Fisher for two separate problems.

Problem #1
When the coil gets wet the F75 becomes unusable. No adjustments will stop the machine from going crazy with sounds. I verified this by swapping the coil. The new coil solved the problem.

Problem #2
All of the segments in the display remain on making it impossible to see what the machine

Yeah, +1 with Matt! If it helps, you are the first one I have heard of with this sort of problem. Have you had it more than 30 days and where did you purchase the machine? Did you have to send it to El Paso?

Yes, I've had it since the end of May. I've sent it back with an RA# to Fisher Labs in El Paso. Side note: I purchased the machine through a reputable dealer who is also a friend.

Stacy,
Just out of curiosity, once you have the RA#, does the warranty cover shipping the machine back to Fisher? (I know I could look that up, but, I'm lazy)

having that outerbox makes life so much easier when the day comes to send it back in. My T2 and both my F75s have had to make trips back to FTP. IIRC the T2 has made 3 trips, the original F75 only went once I thing... so far the LTD has not had a problem (that can be fixed) still cannothave a time getting a solid VDI on a target at depth in BP but I think thats just the LTD. Gonna ask about it,

I paid for the shipping. I used UPS ground. That's why even though I shipped last Tuesday, it will only get there this Tuesday. I did not have the outer box...it was too big. I used the actual F-75 box and lots of bubble wrap.

Stacy.

I wish you the best on getting these issues resolved........keep us posted.

I have had mine since April and had to send it back 2 times. Had to pay for shipping. good machine when it works. Don't know if its worth all the trouble

If you don't mind my asking, why did you have to send it back?

Stacy.

Yea Ro. You ship it out they pay for the return. I also had them send and recall tag on my 1270 so they paid both ways that time.

I was thinking that after the first shipping that you have to pay for... if you have to send it back again, you ask FT for a shipping label. They can fax or email it to you. You print it and take it to UPS, or tape it (really well) to the box and have them pick it up.

Once you've sent it back once you shouldn't have to pay to ship it again for the same problem or any problem that comes up soon after. Ask your dealer to save you an outer box from a new one. The F75 and T2 use the same outer box. Maybe the F70 too.

Write down and keep your RA# in case you lose your receipt. If you cannot find your receipt down the road you'll need some way to show that you had it serviced before, proving that you owned it at that time... since they repaired it before, it proves that, at that time you had proof of purchase. They will not have the RA # on file... but if you have it they should accept it if you can't find your receipt.

I had a similar problem with my T2. I got it when it first came out, got it in a group buy direct from FTP for a "team hunt". They did not remember doing that and in fact Mr. M questioned that it ever happened. I couldn't find a receipt from them and didn't have RA #s from earlier repairs, years ago... but I did an online review of it way back when I first got it. Luckily, the review was dated and available online. I sent the girl (not the repair dept) a link to the review and they said that was good enough, told me to include her email and use the RA # I had gotten from the repair dept. (The repair dept had given me an RA $ but said they could not do warranty work without proof of purchase)... so keep your receipt and write down your RA # and keep them in different places.... just in case.

I am really interested to know the results of your repairs. I have had some problems with the F75 LTD but not enough to really know if I have a problem. Some places it is very erratic, other places it is smooth as butter but deep targets almost always seem to have a VDI number that jumps all over the place. It will hit the correct number now and then but it will hit a lot of other numbers too.

I have a friend who is so frustrated with his LTD that he says he is through with it. He can't get a good TID on anything with any depth... of course, this could be a good thing if it makes me dig more targets... an iffy TID is better than a bad TID I guess!

I got the machine back about one week ago. The techs did a great job with a new coil, and a new display module. It took less than one week for them to do the repair. Total time without the F-75 was about 2 1/2 weeks and most of that was due to shipping. It is now working better than ever. Fisher Labs Rocks.

Stacy, so glad to hear you got your F75 back and all is working well. I did a good bit of research before I decided on the F75 for a first machine and have never regretted a second since! I love mine and have had no (knock, knock) problems.

So far so good with my new f75LTD, I just loaded in my second set of batteries. I have been seeing several new listings on ebay for f75s. Hope this is not a sign of things to come.
Hope your fix holds for years to come, good hunting.

Hey Roland ... come on down to Corpus Christi and let's give that F75 a work out on the sand.
