Two Questions On The Deleon - 1)Speed & 2)VDI Scale?

Hi all,

I have 2 other questions about the Deleon...

1) Does the Deleon have a fast recovery speed?

2) Where on-line can I print out the Tesoro VDI scale according to the read-out on the Deleon or do I have to learn the scale on a test garden?

Thx.

The Deleon is fast. It is comparable to the Compadre or the Vaquero I use to have. The VDI breaks down like this. 00-teens iron, teens - 30's women's gold rings, nickels 25-39, tabs, 40-60, zinc pennies 70-79, bottle caps 80-95, All other coins 95. Of coarse these numbers are reference only. As you well know there are lots of variables that effect this. It is also helpful to use the segment graph in conjunction with the VDI for more helpful information.

As mentioned above, the D is fast. I generally go with the labels rather than the VDI scale. I made a mark with a felt marker under the nickel slot and a different colored one under the zinc penny slot. I've found that my eye quickly determines whether the indicator is under one of those or on either side and the 95 Silver slot always show up well. I seldom pay any attention to depth indications because if everything seems to indicate a coin, I'm digging regardless. All quick and easy - works for me.
