Two odd items from my favorite hole ...

The first item ( the buckle ) is about two inches long, and is thinner than an aluminum can.
i first thought it was a piece of can till i flipped it over and noticed the tiny buckle attachment.
it has a gold tone to it under the dirt, and will need to be cleaned carefully ...

the second item looks to be the top nipple or handle of a pot lid from a piece of British Slipware. 18th century pottery
i was digging after the metal beep and saw what looked like an eyeball down in the hole looking back up at me.

.

did some light cleaning on the small buckle, it is gold but almost paper thin.
if you look at the back. it has a tiny hinge rather than a buckle.
the more i look at it, and because of the hinge and latch, it appears like a small gold lid to something, not a buckle as first thought.

hate not being able to properly ID a find. but after a little thought i have to second, and third guess myself as to what the buckle looking item is.
i now think it is the thin gold back of a pin or brooch . and not a buckle or lid. the hinge part looks to be where the pin would have been for the brooch.
