1876 1891 the 76 is beautiful full libertyb that makes five indians out of the same yard all in the 1800s but still no old silver cant figure it out thanks bryan

Great job on the Indians Bryan. I'm in my sixth year of metal detecting and I have only found five total.

The rule of thumb is that a coin will remain in circulation for 30 years. So you can assume that these coins were all lost prior to say 1925. In those days Mom would have had her money in her purse. So the most likely losers of these coins were either Dad or the kids. The kids probably didn't have much money and are less likely to have had silver coins. A dime would buy alot back then. A kid could buy a bag of candy for a nickel. So you can imagine what they could get for a penny or two. We were on the verge of the depression back in 1925 things were likely pretty tough.
The country also had a tough period in the 1880's. People were watching every penny. Also a silver coin would be more visible to the eye than a brown one on the dirt.

Is it a farm house or a house in town? I would think you would find more silver at a farm house than one in town.

If its there, you'll find it.

You amaze me Bryan. The silver will come. I'm sure you'll find it after you get the copper out of the ground. It's there along with many other unique finds. Good luck and thanks for the post and picture, Nancy
