Two interesting items from the surf this week

I am mainly a surf hunter in Bermuda who finds gold jewellery but I get a real charge out of historic items, here's what I turned up this week.

The first item is a bronze tag from the company Griffiths & Browett, Birmingham, England. They produced some of the early portable fire extinguishers.

The next item is a military badge, I am assuming it is British as it has the St. George slaying the dragon motif on it. This one is dated 1961 on the back so not a relic but a fun find just the same.

Hi Eric,

Those are some nice finds, indeed! The second item looks to me to be a LOT older than 1961 -- are you sure that it signifies a year or could it just be the number 1961 for some other purpose? What parish did these come from (you can PM with this info if you'd like)?

It could be a number but probably a date, copper doesn't do very well in these waters. Found both pieces off my beach in Somerset.
If I could figure out which regiment the badge represents I could tighten up on the date.
