These are two finds I cleaned up in olive oil. The one on the left says B.B. Co New York. They manufactured oil lamps and it appears to be the wick adjuster. It still has a rusted small rod coming out of the back. It is made of copper.
The seconds says H. Disston and Sons Hilada, with a Keystone in the middle. It is the fastener for a handsaw. They were manufactured in Philadelphia. Here is a great website dedicated to their tools: http://www.disstonianinstitute.com/index.html
This site has to hold some coins. I was using the HF 10.5dd coil. I'm going back with the small 7.5 to get around the pig and slag iron, and all the junk. By finding these two copper pieces, which both gave very repeatable signals at 6+ inches, I'm still surprised I did not find one coin. However, coming from a family with farmers, they don't go dropping too much change.
