Two Hours on the Volley Ball Court

Really love my T2 - Have had it about one month and it's taking me awhile to get used to. One problem I'm having, when I find a target, is pin pointing and getting close to the target, what with the bigger coil. My DetectorPro, UniProbe really helps me to 'zero' in on the shallow targets or the deeper ones, after I dig a little.

So, I decided to go to the local University Volley Ball Courts for practice where the digging is easy. Also, I could use the UniProbe to locate the target,by pushing the probe into the sand. Then I could dig the find.

To get better acquainted with the T2 coil, I'd use golf tees to mark the target location, when I first found the target on the front of the coil, then locate it on the back with another tee. This would let me see where the target might be. I could then use my probe and really check the exact location.

I learned a lot in two hours, plus finding numerous coins, a silver toe ring and a silver man's wedding ring. I only hunted 1/2 of the three courts, so I'll be back soon as the snow melts.

I need the practice, since I'll be going to Ft. Myers Beach, Fl. in Feb. If anyone is in the area then, I'd like to hunt the beaches with them. Please contact me. Bob C. IL.

I'm glad your report is a positive one as I have a T2 on the way from the factory. Does it come with an instructional video or just a manual?
It looks like a detector with unlimited potential and the users should know it intimatley by the time they release the smaller coil. I see good things coming from Teknetics/Bounty hunter/Fisher.

keep at it with the pinpointing ,it took me a few days solid tecting to get it right but the target is usually about 2 inches in front of the stem on the centre line .the only time its wrong is if the target is iron or rubbish .luckily we can dig big holes on our stubble fields so its easy to get used to .sounds like you made some nice finds though

To pinpoint with the T2 was a little different than my Explorer XS even though they both have a double D coil. When you get a target you will move the coil off to the side of the target about 5 or 6 inches, pull the pinpoint trigger and lift up a couple of inches then swing over the target. You will hear a large signal, now swing back to about the center of the target, move just a little off center and release the trigger. Now pull the trigger again and swing across the target, this time you will get a smaller signal. Each time you do this you will narrow down the signal to a small spot that is in the center of the coil. The target is some where under the middle of the coil from toe to heal but you don't know where. The key is to turn the coil 90 deg. and do the same thing and you will zero in on the target. You will be using an "x" pattern. The easy way to practice this is to put a quarter on top of the ground and practice pinpointing. If you stop on the center of the target you will loose the signal and you will have to do it again. You have to read the manual, read the manual, read the manual. With a little practice you will be able to pinpoint to an area about the size of a silver dollar.

A little tip about pinpointing. The 2nd time to took my T2 out(civil war site) I got a scratchy signal that wouldn't repeat, normally with a signal like that you would keep on walking, but I felt like something was there so I pinpointed it and got a good loud pinpoint. Out came a 44 caliber Tranter bullet at about 7 to 8 inches. I learned that this was a fairly rare bullet. I have since found a 2nd one. So if you think something is there but not sure, pinpoint it and if there is a target it will be loud and clear. If it is soft and clear, it is either something very small and shallow or larger and deep. The T2 is the best relic machine for the money bar none. If you use one for a couple of weeks you will not want to use anything else and I've had an Explorer XS for 8 years, but it stays in the car when I go relic hunting.

Thanks very much for the responses!!!

Will Practice ASAP and follow the advice and suggestions.

But that will be awhile, as the governor has declared 1/2 of Illinois in a disaster area - due to an ice and snow storm passing threw. Over 200,000 without power. We lucked out and still have it.

I'm looking forward to being in FL. in the FMB area in Feb. - will get to practice there everyday. :) Bob C. Il.
