Two hours hunting with the S.E.F. coil

I was able to get in two good hours evaluating the new "Butter fly" coil before it got to hot to hunt, even in the shade. I really like the balance of this coil and where they put the attachment for the shaft. It just feels good when you swing it. I got a couple of older quarters and both were in the 7 to 8 inch range which is a good sign of being able to find the deep targets. I did not notice any falsing and the coil was as quiet as any coil that I use. As I said before this coil pinpoints spot on. VDI numbers were accurate, but I still have problems with bottle caps, as you get a reading of penny, penny dime. Although the coil looks kinda strange I like it and I will enjoy continuing to evaluate it. HH Dennis in Idaho

Dennis when you are done testing it you can send it to me. Rob

That coil sounds like a keeper! I like the pinpointing accuracy. Did you ever find out if it's a concentric coil or not? Thanks for your evaluating the coil and we'll all be waiting for more information. :poke: They have the right person for field testing. Stay cool and be careful with that heat. HH to all, Nancy

I kinda like the coil Rob, It might be awhile before I get done testing it. Come out to Idaho and I will let you use it when we go relic hunting, LOL. Nancy I have not been able to make contact with JW, but after working with it today I don't think it is a concentric. I was able to pinpoint with it off the tip of the coil like the DD. I pulled coil back until I lost the signal and the target was near the front valley of the coil. I will try and pinpoint the same way tomarrow and try it off the rear of the coil. I still want to hear what JW has to say about it. HH Dennis in Idaho

I just came across a coil made by Minelab. It is a DD coil and looks simular to the S.E.F. HH Dennis in Idaho

For lots of information, go down the list of topics and click on the post from JW. It takes you to the S.E.F. page and then click on more information. The coil is a DD type coil, more accurately, an over lapped, Symmetric Electro-Magnetic Field (S.E.F.), elliptical DD.

I don't have a super 12 to compare its weight with. I guess I need to take my 10x12 in to find out how much it weighs. HH Dennis in Idaho

The 10x12 S.E.F. coil weighs in at 1.45 lbs. HH Dennis in Idaho
