two good hunts with pete and olddigger

hello all. here's what i've dug up in my past two hunts with pete and olddigger. a few sharps and a pulled three ring, a nice patriotic american flag pin, two union cuff buttons, a union navy button [thought it was a droop wing at first - haha! ] an old iron buckle frame, a couple of rivets, a keg tap, what might be a trigger for a cap gun, perc caps, a broken j hook, and some mexican coins from somebody's wind chime.

for every bullet we dug, there were ten small pieces of lead melt! thanks fer looking!

it's been a strange site to detect, quindy. between the three of us, we've dug around 110 dropped sharps and a couple of pistol bullets in this 5 acre field. lead melt is everywhere. pete found a nice us bit boss and belt adjuster. it's as though bullets were being made and then they suddenly had to stop - with the perc caps and all, i'm surprised no boxplates have turned up yet. ...and what in the heck is a us navy button tice # na227a27 doing out in the middle of a farm field, many miles away from water?! it makes you wonder.

it's been a good spot, and we've really enjoyed it. frank put the whoopin' on me the other day - he got 16, i got 14. i gotta get to the liquor store, the old man who owns the spot told me he likes southern comfort...i believe i can help him out with that! and deservedly so.
