Two Gold and One Silver Today

Both 18k total 6.7 gr. The Mercedes ring is silver 10 gr. Got them going in between the dig holes and left targets of people who don't deserve to own a pulse detector. They can dig all that crap again next day including the sparkler wire and other big signals that I wouldn't be caught dead wasting time on. I guess leaving targets for the next guy passes as being artfull, tricky and skilled in some camps--like little dogs marking territory.

nice finds!

Wow, really?? "Don't deserve to own a pulse induction machine". You know that just seems like a pompous attitude to me especially coming from someone that a lot of folks on the forums respect for whatever reason. Just be happy with your finds, and you don't know what the others found so you remember that. Also as great as you think you are, no one can find it all, I'm sure other hunters go in behind you and find rings as well, oh yes, even behind you!
If they were leaving holes and trash that's one thing but according to your post you just left the trash for "them to dig again" so not really any better than them to me and digging big trash that you"wouldn't be caught dead digging"? So you never dig trash with a pulse machine, interesting. Guess everyone else that uses a pi just doesnt know how to use them. Show me a guy with a pi drector not digging trash and i will show you a guy missing rings and coins. As free Americans everyone "deserves" to own any type of machine they please, you are not the supreme metal detecting authority to decide what folks "deserve". A lot of folks find a lot of great things and post them here and on other forums and are humble about it, which is nice to see. Not everyone makes a living selling books, err "metal detecting", so they get out when they can and find what they find. Some folks will kiss your tail and then defend you, but if Joe Average posted his finds with that attitude he would get roasted and you are no better than Joe Average to me. A lot of folks agree with me but are afraid to say it because you are some kind of "famous" personality, but I'm not afraid. What you or anyone else thinks of me won't affect where, when or how I hunt or what I find in the least. I will be selling the 2 books I have that you've written and I won't be buying anymore, there wasn't anything in them that I hadn't already learned myself anyway. Good day.

Amen bootyhunter ! I would have to say sounds to me like you sir are the dog marking territory. Which is funny cause no one owns the beach ! I will kneel before no man as he is simply a man same as I am. So I will say this I love this forum and community I have learned and been helped by many on here. I have had the privilege of helping others that is what we should do not boast and act as if we are superior to others, I sir will never read your books as you are not the kind of person I can learn from. Just remember what you put out is what you get. So good luck to you.

Did you guys miss Clives intent? Sounds like they werent covering their holes and the trash wasnt being picked up....... to me thats pretty irresponsible guys. I have hunted behind people like that ..... and even with a VLF its a pain. To me you might as well be dropping bobbie pens or throwing pennies if you arent going to pick up your trash. I dont feel that was harsh at all to say they dont deserve to own a detector especially if its where all can see. Clives the bad guy because he didnt fill the hole and pick up the visible trash???

I must have missed his point cause I took it the other way if that was his intent then I would stand corrected even Bootyhunter said in his post " if guys were leaving holes and trash that is one thing" So he took it as I did. I think anyone who leaves holes and trash should not have a detector. I also am more humble as good as my skill is someone else is better or gets lucky and we all miss targets. I also think everyone on this forum would agree that hacks do not belong in any area leaving holes and trash hurts us all. So, with that said, again if his intent was as you claim, then I am man enough to say I was wrong on that point. I just do not see need to boast of my skill. I have hunted parks and homesites behind some of the most respected hunters and have pulled things they missed. I posted my finds and did not boast my better skill. So maybe it is not what you say it is how you say it.

mtwolf..... sometime i think our point gets lost in translation. Please dont take it that i was trying to beat anyone up either. Seems less and less want to pick up their trash or fill their visable holes. In the water .... there are those that just dont care. Now on the beach counties are trying to find ways to keep detectors off them.... i think we are become undesirable to tourists. Its a fine line we walk. Clive nice digs.

Arrogance and animosity are abundant in MDing...Some peoples thoughts are not always written the way others read it.For me,MDing is what it is...a hobby I enjoy!
I don't claim to find more, have the best machine, know the best time and place,or be better than anyone else.....I just enjoy it.

DEW I agree completely and that was well put bob oz it is a hobby and nothing more.

Now hang on just a minute here. I said what I said beacuse I'm sick of hunting places strewn with pot holes--each with a target at the bottom. Not even coin sized ones--great big holes with jagged hunks of metal at the bottom. Guess you will still be ranting on in your personal attack on me as some youngster stands in a hole, slices his foot and his parents run to the parks people and yet another site is closed to detctorists. As someone who is somewhat listened to I feel that it's my duty to get the word out that leaving sharp metal targets in the water where people wade and swim is not acceptable. I said the dog bit becasue it seems to me that many hunters think its crafty to keep the site hard to hunt by not taking anything out--like "teritory". Or just too lazy to carry a bit of junk. These people are no -skill, no class "hackers" --dirtbags who wreck it for everyone--even you. The best hunters I know wouldn't dream of leaving targets to distract them next time out--besides, they rely on their own ability--not trying to confound the next guy.
No need to work that up into a full length book.

Well said Clive.

My last trip to Myrtle Beach, while I was pulling up a sparkler wire, a young man comes over and asks what I had found. I showed him and wound it into a small ball and dropped it in my pouch. He asked why I was keeping it. Answer: Wouldn't want my granddaughter cutting her hand on it when she is building a sand castle. He understood that.

We all need to protect the hobby.

Congrats on the gold and silver!

PS With respect to "As free Americans everyone ..." I do believe Clive is Canadian. A good and valued neighbor of the Americans!

Nice rings Clive! I loved reading the books I got from you and found out today, the first time to the lake with the GT, just how clean gold sounds with the sovereign. Just like you said. Joe:thumbup:

I do find it odd..... we get slammed while there are big signs about NO FISHING ON THE BEACH, yet these signs are ignored and i end up picking up their lures out there. I have no doubt if they posted the same about detecting we'd be getting tickets. It is getting to be a competion out there with some hunters scheming to discourage other hunter by dropping high cond or just junk. Ive found the best way...... is to just keep it hunted out. Nothing like a 3 hour drive to hear nothing in the water. Personally i have no desire to dig up the same piece of trash twice.... so im certainly not happy digging your trash too.

I've occasionally been to beaches where I've spent a considerable amount of time filling in detector holes IN THE DRY SAND. My first thought when I see them is "How badly could an elderly person be injured should they accidentally step in one of these holes and fall". People who leave such holes and any trash in them which they have uncovered do not deserve to have a detector..I dont give a rodent's rectum about their detecting ability, but when they, through sheer laziness and neglect, make a recreation area unsafe for others, they should have their detector and digging tool confiscated.

I must agree with Clive . I have seen so many school yards and parks close for this very reason. we have to protect or hobby at all cost .
By the way what detector are you using now Clive ?. I will and have bought your books as long as there about water hunting and beach hunting and about the type detector that I use. the book on pi pro was very good lots of info thanks.
