Turkey Day and Friday produced two firsts for me. Daytona Beach has finally started to behave like it should. On Turkey Day my child bride and I hit the beach at low tide. I scored a cheap man's watch (that still works) and my first Mercury Dime (1943). Both were just above the low tide line. Another hunter showed me a nice Walking Liberty half that he had just found. On Friday, my bride had to go to work (and I didn't). So I hit the same spot as on Thursday, hoping for some nice silver coins . Within 5 minutes of getting there, in 2 foot of water I got a hit that turned out to be a nice man's 14k gold ring (another first for me). I had to dig down to about 14 inches to recover it. The water temp was 65F which is cold enough by Florida standards. And when a wave came in, it sure got my attention!!
