Nothing special here -- just sometimes you get lucky.

I was out doing some curb strips. The quarter was just waiting, right there.

Then while searching about 30 farther along the strip, the Omega showed a high number about 4 inches down. I dug, probed with the pinpointer, and found the target -- just a piece of brass from some earlier construction, nothing special. It went into the trash pouch for recycling.

But while filling the hole, something shiny flashed on the surface, about three feet away. It was a nickel.

While detecting, I was notching nickels "out" because there are so many pulltabs around here. So, another surface find.

Nothing to complain about. It was a good day all around.

Good job! Silver quarter? What kind of a nickel was it?

The quarter and the nickel are both just modern clad.

Can't complain ... it took no digging ... they were just right there on top.

Also came up with 5 more quarters, 3 dimes, and 6 pennies (had to dig for them), all modern stuff, in just a couple of hours.

Not a great bunch of finds, but no sweat -- it was a beautiful day and the clad buys a fresh battery for the Omega. I'll take it any time.

Gamma_Joe--

I'll take those eyeball finds ANY DAY! They are so much easier on the back and they do add up. Good to see that you recycle brass and copper too. I make a trip to the recycle yard every 2 or 3 months. Easy cash to pay for fuel and an occasional lunch. Best of luck and...

I recently tumbled all my small brass, copper, etc scraps because recycle deducts if it's very dirty. Really cleaned up nice and fun to look at.
