Two dilemmas

1. Has anyone else had the little foam-rubber pads under the meter housing rip and fall off?
2. I have enough extra cash right now to buy a new coil. I hunt in

I would buy all of them--NO I get the (:geek: inch EXcellerator--That size is great for everything---For Extreme depth (In NO Trash) the 14 In. Whites or the (14) (1:geek: In. EXcellerator

Jeff,
On my new MXT I don't have that problem but it's funny because on my DFX when I first got it, I noticed under the meter, that rubber pad sticking out alittle. Made me think it might of been rebuilt or something. I guess just a poor job of putting them pads on in the factory I guess.
As far as coil selections, all I can say is I have the 5"excellerator and the 6 by 9 Eclipse coils. They both excel in very trashy invironments. Wouldn't trade them for anything. I highly recommend either one of these coils for your type of hunting. Hope this helps.

When I first got my MXT I noticed those peices sticking out on the bottom. I took a razor blade and cut them off flush with the bottom of the housing. Those pieces flapping in the wind served no purpose.

Yes and I got a 5" excellerator and it's unbelievable in the trashy stuff. $79 @ Kellyco. I also go a fiber rod and hardware too. Makes it easier to switch coils.

Those little rubber pads are a real joke as i have yet to see them on after the detector has been used over 4 or 5 hours. It realy dont need them and I replaced mine 3 times the first month before i seen they are not made to stay on.
On coils I find the 4X6 and the 6X10 DD coils are the only ones I need to hunt most everywhere I hunt. If i was a beach hunter then maybe the 14 inch for coverage would be the only one i would want.

Jeff, here is the 6 by 10 DD Eclispe I use. I wanted this coil specifically for hunting a cw campsite that I go to alot. There is an area that is real trashy in the field where the old house used to be and I LOVE hunting this trashy area because below this trash is where all the old goodies lay!!! Two or three weeks ago, when I first got this coil, I went out there and was able to pull out a beatiful cw brass trigger guard that went to a .44 Colt pistol. I was amazed at the narrowness of detection sniffing around all the trash but yet still maintain great depth with this coil! Also, don't over look the 5" excellerator, it's great too!

Don't know about the excellerator coils, Don't see how you cand do better than Whites? Are they DD's?

I do not see any signs of it coming loose either. One of them is even worn round instead of the original squared edges.
If you keep having problems, maybe you haven't cleaned the metal good enough.
Another option would be to pick up a couple of rubber bumpers with the screw in them. Of course, if you do that you had better check for clearance inside the box first.
It keeps the box up off the ground. Especially nice if you lay it down on a wet sandy beach or muddy field.

Lee,
Are you talking the rubber bumpers on the control box or the foam pads under the meter?? The little foam pads under the meter is the one I thought he was talking about, some dont even know they are there.
Rick

White's own 5.3 Eclipse is a really nice coil, in my opinion, and the one I would use most of the time from White's. However, since I hunt a lot of trashy sites the 5" EXcelerator is the one I prefer for small-coil duties. It works excellent! The 8" for 'general applications (or the open 10") and then I prefer the 12

Mine are still there but one is starting to shift a little in the middle.
Even though I did not realize they were there, they do add comfort. Sometimes when I realize the bottom of the meter is resting on my fingers I slide my hand down a little on the handle. Maybe that is why the pads are still there.
Sorry for the late post. I've been on vacation.
