Hit some old dirt yesterday forenoon and managed to snag a 42 Merc., 1903 I H and a 1917 Buffalo. Also, not shown, were 4 wheat cents, oldest being a 38d. Actually, am showing one of the wheat cents. Its the one that is partially imbedded in a chunk of rusty iron. The A T Pro, none the less, sniffed it out. Pretty amazing!
This morning I hooked up with a couple of hunting buddies on the same old dirt and really only dug one good hole. The hole, however, contained a 1917 Mercury dime, a 1905 I H cent and a 1910 V nickel. 1 wheatie did come to light, the infamous 1944 date. Seems like I dig more of that date then any other. Tons of them were minted, so probably the reason.
The 100 dollar looking piece of paper is just that. Some sort of money looking advertising. It does get ones attention from a few yards distance, though. Not to long ago I did run into a real ten spot.
Terry, one of my hunting buddies, also hit a 30's decade Mercury and a couple of wheat cents and Chris, my other hunting buddy, was still working on finding his silver when I had to leave. He had house guests and was a little late getting to the spot this morning. The early birds get the silver, right? Chris did get me a few days ago, though. I don't think he was 20 feet from the car and we were just getting started when he nailed a nice 42 Walking Liberty half and a little while later a nice turquoise and sterling ring.
Anyway, hope everyone has a great weekend. HH jim tn
