TWO DAYS AT AN 1820'S FARMHOUSE

Got permission at an 1820's farmhouse that had a fair amount of commerce around it back in the day. It had a ferry landing, store, and cider mill on the property. I had high hopes that the old coins and relics would be all over. Well I hunted hard for 3-4 hours a day for two days. Day one finds include my 90th silver coin for the year and it was a seated 1875 quarter, the cool Lincoln bust, bat wing buckle, 7 buttons including the very sharp excelsior button. The seated was the only old coin for day one not even a wheat.

I was losing a little hope for day two. First good target on day two was a holed, well worn KG. I did managed 3 wheat's 1914, two 1919, two Indian's 1887, 1898, a 1900 barber dime and a surprising 1967 Kennedy Half. Also a 1901 Pan America Games token.

There is a little turf yet to swing so you never know!
Thanks for looking, happy hunting.

Very nice finds!! I absolutely love the buttons! I dug a couple of Flats with "etching" and one curved Silver plated button in the Spring. Now there should have been old silver there, too.

I'm getting set to go back for my second day at the old home I dug 3 LCs at in one day last Sunday. Why is it, when we dig old place like that, the silver is never really old? I've been digging the Large Cents and Half Cents (including Draped Busts) and Colonial Coppers this year more than I ever have. When I dig the silver is these places it's Roosevelt and Mercury dimes? I guess silver was scarce and that would be the answer.

Prime Example - Last Sunday, same site:
