Two CZ3D questions...........

1. Does the CZ3D in salt mode operate the same way the CZ 5 does?

2. What's the purpose of the 4th tone?

I've used a CZ5 off & on for years, so, curious to other's opinions the above questions.

Thanks.........see ya mark

Yes in the salt mode the 3d is like the cz5. Some people like to hear the difference in the coins or trash. But in salt mode you will loss some depth.

1. yes and no....its in the salt mode on both units with toggle in that position however with CZ5 you would be hunting in reg mode which is now enhanced ...however you have the extra tone and square tab becomes relic which you don't have on the CZ5..Depending on the tuning parameters of the meter should be similiar...on both units...
2. Extra tone is to immediately alert you have hit something in that relic parameter..Old indian heads, 3 cent pieces, large gold 10 kt rings, tokens and oddball coins, gold coins, half dimes etc. fall in this zone if hunting old areas...

Yep in salt mode expect a tad loss of depth and sensitivity to small and gold jewelry..

Nasa Tom has an excellent article on the CZ3D so try to google to find info....

Ive never used a CZ-5, but I do own a 3D and love it. I dont know if mine is tuned differently or its the soil in my area.....but once I figured out what the machine was telling me is when my finds increased 10 times over....whenever i dig a suqare tab signal? thats usually what it is....a sq t, or can slaw....or a bottle cap....or a memorial penny, lol. I dig all the ones that hit dead on, I just never found anything in that tone. I make out much better on deep foil hits
deep buffalos?- - - foil tone, manual says high tone, deep V nickles? - - foil tone, manual says hightone, Indian heads all come in as high tone. never dug a shield nickel or half dime, so im not too sure on them, but I would say foil or high tone. deep nails, tacs, staples, the deep rusted ones may hit high tone in all 4 directions and become very bothersome with digging in hard packed dirt areas.

But Ill tell ya, once you really learn what its telling you then you can clean up while hunting along side of some very good machines. My hunting partner has an MXT, but ive been the one going home with silver in his pocket. ill have about 5 good keepers to his 2. once there was a pocket spill he walked away from taking only one dime and leaving a quarter and 2 nickels.....I thanked him later that day, lol.

Hope this helps, ive found many coins, tokens and buttons just digging foil and hightone, when a signal is broken up and giving many tones, see what tone takes over the average. just what signal is coming in the hardest or the most. there has been a few coins ive found in the same hole with a nail. also try and find Toms article about masking,
good luck
