Turns out the vacant lot right next to me was once the site of a home. I have been going over there a couple of times just to kill time. I have dug a couple of old coins and today I found enough stuff to let me know there was a house. I found part of a cigar, a portion of a sheet of corragated metal, a led lid for a mason jar, a piece of stuff??, part of a spatula, a bunch of nails and a bunch of pottery chips and shards in my holes. Oh yeah I stumbled across the septic tank too. I need to do some more research to see if I can find the history of the place.

Cool bean!!! if the lot is empty now, I do not think anyone would bug ya for digging there...Good luck on your search. Don't pierce the Septic Tank...:stretcher: Thought they were supposed to dig those up when they took a house down??

Right next door huh. Lucky you. I have do drive at least an hour to get to the beaches and I haven't even begun to crack the code about how to scout out some of the battlefields that might be available here in Southeastern VA.
