Turning towards other hobbies as cold weather approaches.....

Lots of hunting time left yet. Snow and cold are hovering in the far north tho.
here are a couple of other things i piddle around with. One is making furniture, and the other is whittling and carving.
The first picture is a copy of a mission plant stand i made several years ago, the second picture is unfinished carvings I do while sitting around at nite. they include a dog, butterfly, two dragons, and a hummingbird feeding in a flower. The little frame is a tiny picture frame I detected years ago. the wife confiscated it, and put one of her tiny cross stitchings in it.

Good, straight forward design has a certain purity about it that fancy scroll work never can surpass.

Nice Work, Mate!

Nice hobby... My winter hobby when the snow flies is out in the water detecting :) I don't let a litte cold water bother me :) In fact I prefer it to summer waterhunting.

Connecticut beaches... nothing like a little 35 degree water down the suit :) Winter hunting is best because the sand moves out and leaves gravel and shells exposed and its here where I find most of my rings. I have hunted while it was snowing doesn't bother me... I look forward to the winter for water hunting. No jellyfish or other critters to worry about and the water tends to be crystal clear :)

Personally I wear either neoprene waders or my Simms Gortex waders, long johns under my jeans, I wear gauntlet gloves that have a strap that rests behind my head.. if the water is really cold I will put Hot hands inside the gloves, no part of me is exposed to the cold... even my face is protected I wear one of those neoprene face masks... Its funny people stop and watch sometimes and think I am clamming... I mean what else would someone be doing in 35 degree water in the middle of winter lol... I bought my gauntlets from a company in PA which specializes in cold water hunting products.

I strange as it is I have been working on my other hobbie as well. I make computer controlled Christmas lights and displays for my home LOL. It is hard to get in the mood when it is 90 degrees out but I have been doing a little here and there.

I run a web page @ www.alloutchristmas.com that shows what my hobbie is all about :)
