Turks and Caicos

Has anyone ever hunted the beaches in Turks and Caicos? If so where there any problems with bringing the detector into the country?

Thanks,
Chuck

Just an opinion but they are British so can't see why that would be a problem. Dan

If anybody is interested this is the respones I got from the TCI Government.

Chuck, While the TCI does not have an overall policy on
metal detectors, it would not be advisable to bring one to
our Islands. Several people have had them confiscated by
customs in recent years. Also, all of Grace Bay beaches
fall within National Park areas and there can be no metal
detecting or "treasure hunting" in thse areas by
regulation. Areas outside of national parks would be open
to you, but of course, these areas get very little people
traffic.

Also, according to law in this British territory, anything
found on Crown (government-owned) land (this includes all
underwater areas)does not necessarily belong to the
finder. It belongs to the Crown.

Sorry, Chuck, I know that beach detecting is a popular
pastime in the States, but our different regulations make
it rather difficult here.
