Turkey Day Morning Hunt.

Had made some plans to try and beat winter this weekend and detect in the woods behind my house. My wife has been telling me to do this for some time now.I took a scouting trip thru an area earlier in the week and followed the stone walls until I thought I found an interesting area to detect.I made plans to go with my daughter Courtney and give it a shot before we had to do the turkey thing.Well old man winter beat us and it snowed overnight but didn't stop us from taking our hike. For about 2 hours we journeyed all around and made some finds that is going to bring me back to different parts of the woods. In one field we found an ox shoe,an ox horn nut and the best find of all a 1740 George II Halfpenny. Now all we need to locate is a cellar hole.
It couldn't have been any better and loved the time spent with my daughter.
Here are some pics of our journey.Take care, John

Donnie and I went out last weekend after deer hunting and found 8 ox shoes and a bunch of old sardine cans in the middle of the woods.I found 2 buttons,1 eagle, and he found our first coins ever found on a charcoal pit( I think the pit had not been used for a few years prior to the lost coins. Probably usede for a camping spot) Anyway he found a VF-AU50 small motto 1864 2 cent piece and an 1863 IH in same condition. Just goes to show, you never know where you'll find goodies. Have a good one and stay warm.
