Tumbler

Can anyone recommend a particular tumbler or brand of tumbler to clean some of this clad? There's so many to choose from on the Internet and I have no idea of what's good or what's junk. The lady at the bank ragged on me today for bringing in all these dirty coins.

IMHO.Thumbler makes a good one single barrel. I haven't used mine for coins yet just rocks but it's been running non stop now for 6 months with no problems. HH

I use Lortone, I got it used off of Ebay and it works great. Just go to Ebay and type in Lortone and that should bring up all kinds.

rubber belt broke. Then the spare belt broke real soon. Had to make a leather belt and reshape the pulleys to a V notch, was a lot of work. I don't recommend Chicago. The leather belt is doing fine.

The Tru-Square (Thumbler tumbler) heavy duty are the best.

It must be over 10 years old and still working great. I know I have cleaned over $1000 in new coins with it. I wore out and broke the belt, but found O rings work great for belts.

Harbor Freight Tools' most recent catalog has those same tumblers for significantly less money. The Chicago 3lb. rotary rock tumbler is listed for 19.99; the dual drum for 39.99. Phone is 1.800.423.2567.

I got the double barrel tumbler from Harbor Freight a few months or so ago on sale. It's my first tumbler for cleaning coins. I didn't want to use my other tumbler for cleaning rifle/piston brass, so I thought I would try this double barrel unit. What's weird is of all the use (sometimes run it 24 hours non-stop), I can't figure why the belt on mine hasn't broke yet. Belt breakage seems common from I read and I been waiting for it to happen. Oh oh, it'll probably break on my next use now. :yikes:

I converted an old ice cream maker to be a tumbler. 6 bucks and away you go. Goodwill, Salvation army have them ounce and awhile. It is nice beacuse it has a center paddle that keeps everything suspendid and moving. An old milk crate is the right size to keep it at the proper angle.

Hi
Here are pics of the basic unit. I will take another one of it in the crate and send it up Monday night. I can tumble about 5lbs of coins in it.
