Went out hoping for more tokens and such, but had another good clad day. 87 coins for a total of $4.12. Numerous early 60s pennies. One nice little 1940 wheat penny with gold toning, shown as it came out of the ground. One possible token; a 1 5/8" diameter copper disc, has a slight curve to it, like a dinner plate (for easier stacking?) - it looks like it had a printed number on it, maybe 55 or 35? I did a little baking soda rub and some olive oil, still hard to read, will work on it a little more. Nothing too spectacular, but my guess is that it was used in one of the local gambling parlours?? So, that makes it a cool find to me. Also found what looks like a miniature brass or bronze vase, quite heavy, also could have been a finial of some sort. I'll do some polishing up on it to remove the crusties.
This concludes today's report from Silver City, New Mexico, where we're having perfect 75 degree days currently, but we aren't getting snarky about it because we'll be sweating our privates off while you're enjoying beautiful summer weather!
Luck in the Hunt to ALL!!
