Tuesday night hunt

Hey all, managed to get out last night after work to the park down the road from my house "again". Lol, I get out of the car where I always park, put the machine on and decide to start hitting the area right there. Tons of signals, a little too many to deal with so I moved outwards until it started to quiet down a bit. Came across a bouncy signal, turned out to be a nickel, about 6 inches away, another signal, turned out to be a penny, then another 6 inches away another penny signal. Dig down 7" and get a wheatie, cool! Love the 8 1/2 x 11 DD coil. Great target separation. I was able to isolate all 3 targets separetely. Hit that area, found another wheatie, then came across a high pitched dime signal. Depth said was about 6", dug a plug, used the pro pointer and it was still in the hole. Pulled out a clod of dirt and see a silver rim. Kept praying for a merc, but alas, another Roosie! This one turns out to be a 1953 D. Not bad, the 3 roosies i've pulled from this park recently were a 51, 52 and 53 dug in that order lol! Managed to find another wheatie and it got wicked dark, so I had to leave before the cops harass me for being there after dark. HH :)

I talk to as many cops as I can, and explain what I do and when and where I hunt...I have never been stopped or questioned at night...even in parks posted with after dark warnings when I am wearing my headlamps...They all know me now...lol

HH,

I'll take silver Roosies all day - and Wheaties, too! Sounds like you've got yourself a honey hole!!

I'm so amazed at how many silvers I've found in this part of the park. I always get hassled by some of the park guys when I hit the oldest part of the park. I always showed the head park guy my technique and how it looks likve I never dug a hole, but he said that a bunch of other guys ruined it for all of us by digging huge holes in the park and not covering them up. He said if I gave you permission, then I'd have to let everyone have permission, yada yada yada. Another park guy saw me leaving one day when I decided to hit the tot lot in the park and asked if I wouldn't mind trying to find a property stake for him. Mind you his house is right next door to the park. I tried as hard as I could to find the stake but couldn't. Too much trash everywhere. He thanked me anyways and we started talking about the park. He told me the head park guy is very strict but he said if I hit the baseball field part of the park, then the head parks guy wouldn't bother me, he would personally see to it. So thats what I've been doing, just hitting this part of the park for a few years now and it still gives up keepers. Sure they're scattered and sometimes few and far between, but who cares. I'll dig every pulltab signal outta there until all thats left is iron hahaha. Just happy the park is close to home and it gives me something to look forward to while at a long day at work. The ride home is definitely my favorite part of the day :) HH!

I wish I had that luxury. Some cops are cool when i'm there past dark, others are just arrogant I just try to avoid the confrontation. I love it when they ask "what are you doing?" As if they've never seen a metal detector before...I mean what do they think i'm doing, digging a shallwo grave? hahaha

Oh, that sucks that other MDers screwed up a good thing. I always wave at the cops and usually get a friendly wave and smile back - I hope they're getting used to seeing me around (smaller town). There is a great site that is now an elementary school that had an early schoolhouse and hospital on it, but they've got it locked up tight and signed 'no digging', sigh. Same problem, no doubt.
