TTF question

So I went back to the spot yesterday where I have found 5 or 6 silvers in the past and decided I would give the TTF pattern a try. I had it set up how goes4ever does it. It definitely seemed to worked well as I pulled out 3 more wheat pennies and a 1963 Rosie. My question is that there was this one section where I seemed to be getting really nice signals and they were bouncing but had pretty decent numbers and was sure they were coins. When digging the targets they would end up being old rusty nails (not square) and rechecking the holes didnt produce the signals anymore so it had to be them. Is that just one of the things I'm going to have to get used to is some nails giving off good signals in TTF or is that considered falsing? or could there have been a setting I needed to change due to another factor? It only seemed to be in one area so I'm not complaining, just curious.

Did you check the signals at a 45 degree angle? usually if it sounds good in both directions it will be good but if it only sounds good in one direction it will be trash.

I'll have to be more careful when getting those kinds of signals. Sometimes It seems like they are guaranteed to be a coin, but I forget to realize that if it doesn't sound good all the way around, then it's most likely trash. I just thought in TTF that those nail signals wouldn't fool me like that

Yea, im startin to learn. I took it to a spot ive hit before where i found a spanish reale and the spot has square nails and coal that goes off like a coin. I would get a nice sounding signal and turn 90 degrees and it would disappear, so I would leave it alone. Didnt get any finds, but i didnt expect much. A lot of the stuff is in really rocky ground and deep, so i need to go back after a good rain
