Trying to make a decision

I have been hunting with Minelab Sovereign xs-2a pros for almost twenty years. I have owned three, and currently have two, of which one does not work and cannot be repaired by minelab. Therefore I am getting ready to purchase a new Minelab Detector and am leaning toward the Explorer. The Explorer interests me because of the FBS technology. I would also consider an E-Trac but I am concerned about the long learning curve to get efficient with it. I would welcome any input that could help me make my decision. Thanks, and I will keep following the threads for any input.

I bought a used Explorer 2. Now, some say long learning curve, I say is 15 minutes long? I air tested it over a few coins in my yard, then I went to the hundred year old ball field that I had pounded with my top-of-the-line-bells-and-whistles-machine-brand X. I was digging old coins and silver 15-20 minutes into my first hunt. I was absolutely astounded at the abilities of the Explorer, and was amazed at the confidence that I had after only a half an hour of use. Good luck with your decision.

You cannot go wrong with either machine. I owned an Explorer II and now an SE Pro and both are excellent machines. I just bought an Etrac and I will see how it compares. It is a different machine and is not a better version of the Explorer series.

Scott,
Feel free to give me a call. I can explain them both to you and make you a great deal! The SE Pro is killer machine! Don count it out!

Oops, I thought you said you were using an Explorer XS. Sorry about that, my post in the thread above was in error. The info still holds except you will be having a big change no matter which model you go with. The transition should be pretty easy since you have the experience with the Sovereign. People seem to like the SE tones better than the ETrak. You are in the right place to get help and advise, here at findmall! I just bought a real nice used Explorer II for $600. They are getting old though and repair service is limited on this model, unfortunately. Best of luck on your decision.
