Trying to figure out this MXT detector

Hopefully some of you who have used the MXT for awhile can answer this. Why does this detector ID a rusted bottle cap the same as silver? Both of these targets had a VDI of 81. Both sounded good and gave a full bar on the meter. I switched back and forth all day between the 3 modes trying to find a clue as to how to overcome this but they all seemed to ID the same.
I know some other detectors will make the distinction between the two items, but not this one?
Im not bashing it, just want to know what gives here.
Most other targets seem to fall into the same catagories as the other detectors I have.

I cant figure that out either, how can an iten the size of a beer can read the same as a penny, how does a pull tab relate to a nickel, size or weight ??? Or how does a 2 foot deep horse shoe even remotely resemble a 50 cent piece ??? Sorry I cant help but I do know what your talkin about, guess thats why I always say you gotta take the good with the bad and gotta take some bad to get the good. If you do find a cure please do share !!!

Easy,,,switch to the prospecting mode and check the percentage of iron content. Or should I say the POSSIBLE iron percentage. <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> Seriously, just movethe coil off the target and switch modes and then re-ID it.

Oxidized metal will full detectors. Reads as good target. It does on my BH SS2 and XLT.
