Trying the NEL sharpshooter on my AT Gold. Initial impressions:

I really liked the small footprint of the Garrett 5x8 coil for working wooded sites for relics and the depth was okay for a small coil.
After reading reviews and watching videos I ordered the NEL sharpshooter because of the reports of depth similar to the 8x11 Garrett coil.

The air test on the NEL hit about a inch further out on a dropped yankee bullet. I hope it's more than that on targets in the ground.

The weight gain seems to be a lot for the small increase in size. The 5x8 is really lite and was a breeze to slide in and around fallen trees and ground debris.

Its extremely well built but I was hoping for a little more out of the box. I think I can try it out tomorrow and post field results.

Found a few pieces but nothing that the 5x8 couldn't do just as well. The extra weight was noticeable but a couple hours of hunting didn't bother me.

Have you noticed any difference in the pinpointing or the VDI numbers?

I hardly use the pinloint feature with the small coils. Just make the center of the hole where the signal is the strongest. Numbers are the same.
