I haven't been to Maine since like 1985. I taught Rosie at the little store at Coos Canyon, how to dowse for gold, way back when. She had been mining with a 4 inch dredge at a spot she and her nephew dowsed for gold and she showed me pea size nuggets they had been getting until a hurricane filled in their hole and nearly took the dredge too!! Are you from Maine or Boston? Sure wish I was there mining with you? Do you look for crystals up there too? I got a broken black tourmaline crystal while gold sluicing last time I was up there about a half inch long x 1/2 inch diameter.

-Tom V., ps, lets see your dowsing rods?

I'm from West Paris Maine almost across the street from Perhams Jem shop right in the heart of tourmaline country, and theres actually 2 old gold mines near me and have been taking sample dirt from other local brooks and streams too, and I know rosie well, I use copper L rods with copper tubing handles, my wife likes to look for crystals

Send me a Pm or email at tvanwho on yahoo. I used to go see Harvey P. in Rumford when I had to get my Maine gold fix years ago. Rosie is the only person I have ever met who could get wild birds to land on her shoulder and even flying squirrels. We can talk about dowsing some more. Have you come across any Aquamarine crystals up along the Swift river? I need a trustworthy friend to help me relocate a crystal treasure that got away back 20 years ago now, heck, almost 30 years .....guess that makes me 57 this year?
Ps, your sluice looks fine, just look for a long V down the middle of the water flow down to about the 2nd or 3rd riffle, then put a golf ball size rock in there and see if it rolls on thru on its own, and you know its dialed in good. I try to keep the sluice angle as flat as I can if in fine gold, otherwise it can easily blow out the end of your sluice.
