I posted this on the FBS Forum. I figured I'd post it here in case somebody missed it and is interested. I'm sure some of you probably mount your X1 Probe this way already but if you don't it's worth a try. The good points are that you'll never forget and leave it switched to the probe because once you put it away it sounds off loud and clear on the pin that goes thru the lower rod clamp letting you know to switch to the big probe. The probe cord doesn't get in the way of the headphone cord or anything else. It's in a real convenient place to grab when you use it. It really looks pretty impressive sitting up there.
I haven't found anything bad about mounting it there. Someone else mentioned it on the forum a while back. I can't remember who it was but I'm glad I tried it and I give him full credit for the idea. HH-Coinshooter65

Hey Coinshooter,
That is how I mounted mine and it works great. Adds a little weight, but really not noticeable. I actually slip the probe in my apron pocket while I'm hunting, just seems easier to me than reattaching it each time. Can't imagine hunting without the probe now. Great product.
Happy Fathers Day!!! <IMG SRC="/forums/images/smile.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":)">

Boy! What a great name Chuck is. It just happens to be mine too. Seriously though slipping the probe in your apron sounds like a great idea too. I'm going out right now for a couple of hours. I'll try it. Happy Fathers Day to you also.HH-Coinshooter65.

Well coinshooter it looks GREAT! I 'am waiting for an upper rod so I can order my probe and will mount mine the same way you have yours.

A woman had three daughters.A knock on the door, she opens it.A man standing there said,my name's Bill i would like to take your daughter Jill for a walk up to the top of the hill. The mother said o.k .Another knock at the door. She opens it.A man standing there said,my name is Lance,i want to take your daughter Vance to the dance. The mother said o.k .Another knock at the door .She opens it.Another man standing there said my name is ChUCK.The mother turns to her daughter and said,"YOUR NOT GOING OUT ".

I reversed the direction of the probe in the bracket and give the cable a quick loop over the control box to keep it from flopping around and giving false signals. Its neat and doesn't get tangled in the headphone cord either. And, I don't have a problem with the cord being in front of the screen. It just lays on the handle right above my thumb. No problem seeing the screen or pushing buttons.

That looks good to Wally. It takes care of the main problem that bothered me too . The cord getting in the way of the headphone cord and the screen. Looks like your a lefty. I am to but for some reason I'm more comfortable swinging the coil with my right arm. I also swing a baseball bat and a golf club right handed. Everything else including writing is lefty. Guess I'm just weird!!! HH-Coinshooter65.

His switch is mounted for a right hander. If you mount the probe on the other side it will hit your leg.
I have mine mounted on top of the shaft.

swing with the left hand about 30% of the time. I mounted the probe on the right side of the detector because for some unknown reason I always set the detector down on the left side of the dig. I guess I use my right hand to dig and my left to work the probe and detector as I dig. Guess I should have gotten a left handed switch but since I usually start swinging with my right hand it is easier to glance down to check that I switched back to the coil since it is on the side that it is.
