TRX pinpointer review and finds today

Just got a brand new white's TRX pinpointer yesterday and got one hour to use it today..........Ok here is my review on the TRX pinpointer after a one hour hunt. I went to an old park and chose a small area and dug every signal. Most everything was 3-4 inches and 90% of the items I could pinpoint from the top of the ground so I was able to dig a tiny flap to retrieve the item. This pinpointer is powerful and very sensitive. Majority of the items were low tones and u can see from the pic it's mostly can slaw and pull tabs. I removed a piece of can slaw 2 inches deep and then rescanned the hole and got a nickel signal directly below it 4" deeper. That was the 1936 buffalo, also got a 1939 Jefferson and a button with an anchor. I give the TRX two thumbs up! For power and sensitivity!

It turns on fast enough but takes at least a 1/2 second press on the button to turn off. Definitely not a show stopper considering its great depth detection.
Did some quick unscientific air testing and the TRX will detect a dime at a little less than twice the distance of my Pro-Find.

I've used the TRX quite a bit lately out relic hunting maybe well over 25 hours total. Unlike my Garrett, it hasn't falsed not once, so far. Not even a hint of a false.

What does take some getting used to is that the detection area is only at the tip and the upper part of the shank.
There's a definite detection dead zone in the shank's mid section between those two areas.

So far it appears the TRX is a winner!

I think whites hit a home run on this one , I would like to get one some day

the tip only detection is one thing I LOVE, with the propointer you never know if the coin is in the side of hole or deeper, drives me nuts! stupid design if you ask me

Hi,
About time that Whites produced a decent pin pointer.
Their last attempt, the Bullseye II, was nothing to write home about.
Flimsy piece of equipment that should have been named cow pie instead.
Just my opinion though - but after having made the mistake of buying one I sold it as fast as I could and bought the ProPointer as a replacement
hh
skookum

yes i don't like the side detection thing, sounds like the TRX is a better option , at least for me

Thanks for the post.
Although I been using the Garrett ProPointer, if something should happen to it (i.e. broken, lost), I would then consider the TRX probably come time.
I many times use the penny trick for a little extra depth for shallower targets before I dig, wonder if the TRX would do the same.

Yes, the TRX can be tweaked a little with the same trick but the gain is slight, maybe a half inch or less. With the depth of 4 inches in level three, tweaking the TRX really is not necessary.

^ Larry thanks.
Yes I understood the TRX extra depth, was just wondering if the penny trick would work at all, so even a minimal gain, half inch or less is what I was looking for.
I may just get one as the more I check into it, the more I'd like to try/have one.
Thanks again

The TRX really is a GREAT pin-pointer. I have both that and the Garrett Pro-Pointer...maybe if the TRX was just one inch shorter...anyway

I also tried one of those Chinese knock-off brands...the X Pointer (picked it up for $40 on AliBaba and the 40 Chinese thieves)...

Rumors are that it may soon be getting sold here for $90. For the $30 more - I say stick with the USA!!!
