trusty old MPX

ritehere

New member
Took my trusty old MPX detector out two days ago to a cornfield near my home. It was the first trip out this year (2014). I am still new to the hobby so don't want to put a lot of money into a detector till I am more secure in my mind that I have a better understanding of this great hobby. Anyways, I was out there for about 2 hours with not a single hit of any metal ( junk or not). I decided to go back to the car for a break, turned around and walked about 40 paces and BLAM! The detector went off its rocker with sounds. Needless to say I knelt down and dug down about 4 or 5 inches, stuck my pinpointer in the hole and ended up pulling out 4 british large one pennies (dates were 1898,1900,1908,and 1919). I was amazed and plan on going back there soon (just had to go and show the farmer what I found). Now the coins were not a goldmine of a find. But for me it left me thinking that maybe these lower end machines are really getting a bum rap on thierreputations.
So as longs as this machine continues to perform like this I believe I'll just stick with it a while.
