Troy ShadowX2 = What Tesoro Detector ?

muttandjeeps

New member
Found a Troy X2 in a local ad, called and spoke to owner and came to a very reasonable price. Drove an hour thru hurricane winds and driving rain :)
Upon testing the detector, it came on fine, pin pointed fine, seemed to discriminate OK. The only sub par event was the depth of the air tests, it didn't want to go much more than 6 or 7 inches, wide open with a new battery. So now, the genius that I am, I decide to look at the coil. It looked as if it had been under water with a bulldozer parked on it, cut/cracks on the bottom with a brass bolt holding it on. The control box and rod look really good, so I re-negotiated and took a flyer on it. Back to the main question, what Tesoro does this unit match up with? What coils can it use? Is there a better one than the stock coil ( I kinda like the size and weight) Any direction would be appreciated, thanks

The Troy X2 is a good detector, it is alot like the Tesoro Silver Sabre

send the X2 in to Tesoro and let them take a look at it. They can fix whatever needs fixing. The coil may be perfectly fine, and then maybe not. If it is evident that it has been abused, and/or you do need another coil, you can find out from those who will know. If you do need another coil, maybe you could pick one up real quick somewhere and send it in and let Tesoro tune it to the X2. Whole process will likely only cost you the price of whatever coil may need to get, since Tesoro is usually not in the habit of charging anything, unless there is a sign of abuse to the machine. All you pay is shipping to them and that is usually it. First thing to do would be to call and talk to Rusty Henry and let him advise you on the situation. He is the BEST, and will do you right!
