Trouble with my 12.5 GTI coil

I was using it last night and it started giving a constant signal except when I had it on the ground. I put my regular coil back on and it seemed to function properly. Do I need to send it in for repair or am I doing something wrong?
 
Sounds like it needs some help. Was it giving you an overload signal, kinda like a machinegun going off? If so, she's bad!!
 
That's exactly what its doing. Can it be repaired or is it scrap?
 
E-mail Mary Penson at maryp@garrett.com and she can answer your question. I had one do that and they replaced it free of charge and threw in a lower stem and hardware, too!! All it cost me was the shipping of the offending coil. Can't beat a deal like that!!
 
Just contacted them. They didn't say anything about a new stem but said they would replace the coil which I feel is very fair. The coil was about a year or so old. Thanks for the help John.
 
They didn't say anything to me either, it was just in the box when the new one came in. Nice surprise!! Hope you get a little extra gift, too!!
