Trouble finding dimes with the AT Pro

Northwestgoat

New member
I was just wondering if anybody else had problems finding dimes with their AT Pro? I laid all the different coins out in my yard so I can learn this machine and it goes right over the dime without any kind of noise. I have tried all modes and still no detection of any kind. I have ground balanced, did a factory reset, checked all connections for tightness and put fresh batteries in this machine (old batteries were half way on the battery gauge) It sounds off on quarters, nickels, pennies, gold rings and foil but not dimes. If i slow my sweep down to a very slow (unbelievable slow sweep) I might get a sound but not every time. I have a CZ-70, Garrett Infinium, Gold bug Two and just sold my Sand Shark, never seen anything like this.
Any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I know this makes no sense but I put five dimes out in my yard and I found 4 out of the 5. I found that one dime (US) did not make a sound and that was the one I have been using to practice with. The AT pro seems to be working like it should I just have a dime that doesn't sound off. The other 4 ring in at a 80 to 90. I took it to the river today and found a dime along with the usual l bottle caps trash and a couple quarters and some pennies. Did not spend a whole lot of time there it was getting to hot.
Thanks for your input.

I would still double check everything because on my machine I have never had a single dime go to 90 after a good ground balance and they will hit hard and lock at 81 just like 8720roger said, most of the time down to about 8 inches using the stock coil even in the clay we have here in south central Va.. I would take all the dime's away remove the coil cover if you use one, do a good ground balance and check the ground in pro zero with no disc and sensitivity at -1 bar to make sure you are not getting something to up the number then recheck it holding the coil about 5 to 6 inches above the dime and see if it locks on solid. The only exception could be mineralization like I have never seen here on the east cost. Someone correct me if I am wrong here but I have never had a dime bounce from 80 to 90 on the AT Pro, my F- machine will on the edges of the coil but my AT locks in pretty good.

I live in Ontario Canada and modern dimes come in 80's and spike to 90, but old silver dimes come in at a solid 81.

Don't take this the wrong way, but you must be smoking something, never heard or seen an AT PRO not detect a dime and detect a quarter, it basically use the same detection circuitry. I like to see a video of this.

wow I find dimes 80 to 81 all day long. Maybe there is something wrong with your machine or a bad coil. If you have another coil try that out.

Now we have to figure into the mix that there might be a little difference in U.S. / Canadian coins. Also did I read somewhere that the Canucs changed to steel coins ? As for my Pro, this year it's banging a higher average of dimes than normal. But I believe it's just because of where I'm hunting. More dimes than Q's being used in these areas. My biggest problem is the items being rounded down to the nearest dollar & the steady creep of the cashless economy.

Dimes and pennies are my biggest finds, quarters next nickles last. But gold rings (6) and a plat ring (1 @ 18gram along with a 26 gram ladies neckless. (wife took that right away):starwars: this past year

Try turning down sensitivity or lifting coil up a few inches. Surface coins are harder to hit when too much power.

same with me on the dimes and pennies i find lots of them. I am trying to find a good notch combination to notch out pennies and clad dimes. So far I just hunt in the std or pro custom mode with all notched out but the last four. When I get a signal, in the stnd custome mode, I switch to the pro custom mode to get a better idea of what is below the coil. Also us my pro pointer to gain even more info on size of target before I dig, or after I dig.

NEVER NEVER find any dimes . I don't really care. My AT PRO will pick up stud earring's, thin gold chains like crazy and that's in STD MODE. I ONLY LAKE WATER HUNT.
