Tripod question

Okay, I admit I know nothing about photography other than point and click. My boyfriend is the one that's really into the techniques and accessories that make photography so interesting. So here's my conundrum: My boyfriend has an Olympus E-20 camera (which he adores) but the tripod he had for the previous camera doesn't work well with the new one. I don't think it's strong enough.
I would just like some ideas about what the best *affordable* tripod is that would support the E-20. It's for a Christmas gift. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Diana

If no one answers I'd ask someone with a good feedback on Ebay that sells the higher end stuff. Another good place to get information is Steve's Digicams. (www.steves-digicams.com I think...)
I've bought my Olympus FL40 flash from Cameta Camera and got a fair price for a new item. They send me lists of things they take in trade on a regular basis so I guess they look at customers for the long term. Hopefully Rick Martin will see your question and give you a professional's answer...

www.cameta.com is the website... Guvner..

Thanks, Guvner! (I can't help but smile typing that.) I'll see if I can get in touch with them.

It seems one Ronnie Hyer of southern extraction used to frequent these forums and we called him the "Mayor"... Funny guy and with the way he wrote you could hear his drawl even in his postings.. Very funny... But... One day he decided that since I ran these forums and he was already the Mayor I would have to be the Guvner.. Since the main metal detector the guys come to this site for is the Minelab, an Australian manufactured unit. "Guvner" sort of fits right in with that so it kind of stuck.. At least we use the hoosier spelling of it... <IMG SRC="/forums/images/biggrin.gif" BORDER=0 ALT=":D">

He just loves trying to make his business go and has left very little time for detecting. When he does stop by as he did last month, it's at the Beach Forum. Do a search... If you do happen to get him out into the open for some posting he's a real treat.
He had some health issues which I think he has beaten and is doing pretty good at this point...

You might try The Bogen line of tripods.
Can you post a pic of the tripod that your boyfriend has now?
