Triple silver hunt tonight!

Hey all, managed to get out for about an hour and 45 minutes to the park down the street from my house again. I know I know, same old park / ball field, but I know there's still keepers to be taken. Hunted real slow tonight, again cherry picking for deep silvers. You gotta go slow here because there is iron signals, sometimes 2 and 3 iron signals per swing, gets to be annoying after awhile, but slowing down the pace definitely helps. Managed the 57 Roosie first, solid 6" with no other signals near it. I guess my old Whites missed this one, it never was the best for depth. Moved on and next signal again another 6" and only about 7 feet away from the Roosie, pulled another silver Roosie! This one is a 64. Just barely made it! At this point it was pretty dark, came across a screaming penny signal at about 2 - 3" deep. It seemed very loud, dug down and scored the silver ring. Neat too, its got a belt buckle design to it lol. Must be a hippy ring of some sorts hehehe. Managed to find the lone 42 wheatie in a huge iron patch. Gotta say, this AT Pro is awesome. 9 silvers in 17 days. Last year my whites gave me 23 silvers for the entire season... Enough said, ATPro rocks!

You're on a roll! This hobby makes you look at where you live differently, doesn't it? Hmm, that looks like an old curb strip, and wasn't the old scout hut on that corner? There's an old building for rent that I discovered was once the post office, can't get anyone at the posted phone # - getting tempted to just go for it. :detecting:

Nice hunt, the AT sure is excellent on silver and all coins for that matter.

That temptation is the devil on your shoulder, William. Don't surrender to old horny:devil:.

Instead of thinking about how to get away with hunting the property without permission, I'd suggest making a concerted effort to get permission. If you fail, no big deal...make another concerted effort somewhere else.

If the building is for rent leave a message that you are calling about the property for rent. Research the owner of the property and know a name to ask for or track down. Think about if you were that building owner (or the selling agent) what would get you to say yes to detecting the property. Then run it up the flag pole and see if he (or she) salutes.

If you detect the property without permission for a short period of time at a non-peak part of the day you'll probably get away with it, but there's always that uncomfortable chance you might not. Would you really be enjoying the hunt knowing there's even a slight chance you might get confronted, arrested or worse?

I'm not gonna go do-gooder on you about hurting the hobby, but you know that trespassing on private property to detect without permission is legally and morally wrong...right?

I know that feeling. I see so many places that are off limits to detecting where I know I could get in and do a night hunt mission, but then again I'd probably get caught and face the consequences. Been there, dont that. A few years ago my roommate and I were hitting the beaches in cape cod. Way up in Wellfleet. Well one day hunting the coast my roommate found a spanish cob. To make a long story short, we took a break and sat by the dunes to admire the finds for the day, where out of nowhere a ranger comes up to us. He said we were hunting the cape cod national seashore and its off limits to detecting. We honestly didn't know, wasn't any signs saying it was off limits to detecting. Didn't matter, all our finds were confiscated, thankfully our gear wasn't confiscated so that was a plus. Now I strictly hunt areas I know I shouldn't have a problem. Schools and parks lol :)

Hey, Eric -
Glad you didn't get in too much trouble at the Cape, sheesh. I did get a nice permission this week - the parks foreman at the little park where I found the barber half in the curb strip said I could hunt the closed area this next week while they work in there. He said it was a trailer park before it was a city park. It's been closed and fenced off for a couple years since the structures burned. In the small area that's open, I've pulled some wheats and tokens and plenty of clad. The fenced area is just graded, not sure if they'll put down sod or weed cloth and chips, but should be pretty easy hunting for now. I really don't hunt without permission because I do it for fun and it's no fun if you're looking over your shoulder all the time - doesn't mean I don't ever fantasize about it, though.
