Triple hit on silver!:minelab:

I didn't expect to find much today since we've pounded this particular site pretty hard. Andy was with me today, he didn't find any silver this time. He did find some modern change and a little bit of scrap metal. The SE was smoking today, sniffing like a mad dog looking for a bone. My first finds were clads, a presidential token, pennies and then the silver started popping out of the ground. First I found the two Mercs rather close together, a few more clads and pennies. As I was working my way back towards our vehicles I tried a spot close to the woods and got a strange sounding signal that was fluctuating with the high pitch and seemed to be somewhat deep. At first I thought it might be a wheat the way the numbers were jumping from 0026 to something else. After putting the spade deep into the ground cutting my horse shoe shaped circle I flipped the big clod of dirt over and probed the hole with my Garrett pin pointer. About 6 inches down into the hole it went off loudly so I moved some dirt aside and saw this big reeded edge! A walking liberty half dollar! Man what a sight to behold when you find those big chunks of silver..About two inches above the coin was a big rusted nail which caused the audio changes. Sure got a good blessing today which I'm thankful for, Andy was almost as excited as I was. It's been over year since I found a half dollar coin........

Enjoy the pictures and thanks for looking..........................HH...........................................John

Very pretty - Congrats. I sure would like to find another half.

Nothing quite like finding a Walker !! Great hunt !!!

I agree Doug !!!

Nice haul John:beers:I use digital all the time, I go by sound first, depth second and FER/COND values last. I'm looking for a range of values, not specific values especially when the coins are deep or where it's trashy. I still get fooled quite a bit but I'd rather know for sure that I didn't leave a keeper like that walker lay.

Absolutely super job! Great coins, especially the half! You gotta LOVE seeing those in your hole!!

I'm with born2hunt -- I do exactly what he does, and in that order, when I'm hunting deep silver. I know it's blasphemy :) to use the digital numbers vs. the smartfind screen, but it just works for my brain -- but like born2hunt says, the digital numbers take third place, behind sound and depth...

Anyway, GREAT job!

Steve
