Trigger switch nut size?

I need to get a nut to fit a Whites V3i trigger switch. Anybody know what size the nut is? I think it's 1/4 40. Just want to make sure. I had no luck at the hardware store or Radio Shack. So I guess I'm going to have to order online.

Take the shaft off and bring it into the hardware store to see what fits..

I did. They didn't have the right size. The guy said it's an electronics piece and told me to try Radio Shack. They didn't have it either. I'm trying to fit this switch onto an old Teknetics 8500B to replace the worn out push button.

Well, whites sells the toggles for about $9 I think. If you can find out if the v3i switch is the same as the DFX I can get you the pitch and ID of the switch. Also if I have nut that fits, I can mail it to you.

Ok, found my tap set, the DFX switch is as you expected 1/4 40. I can look in my boxes of old hardware later tonight to see I have one I can send you.

Or you can try a cheap toggle switch at the Shack, home improvement store or elsewhere and use its nut. Hopefully it'll be a 1/4-40 and not metric.
Most standard toggle switches had standardized threads, don't know about these days with all the imports.

Thanks for the info Airscapes. The switch I have works on the V3I, VX3, and MXT. I would bet it is the same size as the DFX. If you have an extra that would be great.

Going to be in the basement later today, I will take a look in the reclaimed hardware boxes to see what I can find.

Ok I got the right nut. The V3i,VX3,MXT switch is a1/4 40 thread. Thanks to everyone who helped out.

Where did you end up finding one or did you order it from Mouser?

Another great forum member here sent me one of each side. Standard and metric. The metric would not screw on. So if anyone else needs to know it is a 1/4 40.

Glad it worked out!
