It's been a while since I found gold, or anything of value for that matter.
I've been trying different spots without much luck, but most of my time has been spent just scouting out the beaches and less time on actually detecting them.
For my birthday my wife decided she was going to take me to one of those hotels I had been scouting out. She's Great!!
It's quite a ride and walk to get to this area of the beach, the hotel we stayed at was VERY close to the area I wanted to hunt - 300 yards!
I woke up at 7:30 to catch the low tide, dead tired from not being able to sleep, partly because of the bed and partly because I kept thinking about MD'ing...
For the first hour all I got was a couple of pennies and a toy airplane (Deep, not good!!)
There was a small cut going down the middle of the beach, it didn't look like much but eventually a few targets started showing up, so I started gridding that area pretty good.
That's when I get a nickel signal, I give the ground a kick and see something shiny like the side of a nickel. I reluctantly reach down to get my nickel prize and it's gone....What the???
I get the scoop and dig a little in the ground and spot it again...and it starts sinking into the wet sand again...Dang!! I reach down quickly for it this time, and thats when my finger slips through the "Nickel". Hot Dog a ring!! I put it in my other hand and say to myself "That ring sure is heavy, it's either Platinum or Tungsten" I give a quick glance around to make sure no one is looking and hold the ring up to inspect the inscription.....PLAT.....YES!!! Platinum all 10.5 grams of it....YES.
So I started to get the cellphone out to call my hunting buddy to tell him the news when I decided I better not. Once you turn off an Excalibur thats running HOT you can pretty much rest assured you won't find anything else, so I keep going. About 20 minutes later I find the 925 ring. Then another 30 minutes later I hear that unmistakeable low tone of gold. Take a couple scoops out of the ground and there is a 10k white gold band....now I can call my buddy to give him the news. And wouldn't you know it...I hunted another two hours and barely dug anything after that!!!!
