Up early and read the Forum, saw Jimtn's gold and silver and thought, damn!...So I went to a large school complex thats sort of new dirt, this is what Sunday really early mornings are for, getting into the schools with nobody around! I have found a huge amount of clad here as well as one silver dime in the past, so I fired up the 70 and went to work. First thing I noticed is the ground was really dry and tough to stab targets in..also, my screwdriver shaft was flexing from the effort of reaming out a hole, afraid I might break it off... So I set up really light, 39sens for real shallows on account of the digging conditions were so poor...

I got some clad and then a tight silver ping that hit at 81...too high for a dime, and too low for a Q, but such a tight sweet ping I knew it was silver of some sort either a ring or something...Turned out to be a St. Christophers sterling medallion!

Headed on home around 9am..early but already worn out a bit, feet soaked....thought, I need to find a gold ring to match Jimtn's post! Thought, "Where to find one fast"? So I swung off the road to a large soccer complex where I'd found 6 silver rings in the past but no gold to date, Its gotta be here....but cars were in the parking lot! So I drove on by and went to another oldish sportsfield where I'd pulled a silver ring and a silver dime in the past...Not kidding, fired up the 70, hit a shallow copper penny signal, easily stabbed it, a few feet away there was a crisp zinc signal...63ish, but the location was correct, right near the goalposts...stooped and stabbed and stabbed but could not hit the easy zinc penny! Stood up and rescanned, then slowed down and finally felt this ring! Got it! Mission Accomplished I thought! Horray for Me! Shut the 70 down and went back to the car...took a look with my readers...JUNK!

Went home defeated...did stop and get a few beers....trouble is, I was in the right spot with the right gear, settings, and focus for a specific gold ring target, and it was RIGHT where I figured it should be! Damn these cheapskates that buy junk rings!!:rofl: Shoulda went totlotting! Oh well, a sterling St Chris and enough clad for 2 25oz beers is certainly more than I deserve in the scheme of things, Jim must have earned his reward through works!..He must be a Lutheran! I go entirely on Luck, Spidey Sense, and Grace, and aside from my drinking and smoking and swearing, I'd make a good Baptist or Snake Handler!..:shrug:...

Happy Sunday to you all!..light a candle for 'ol Mud will ya? Even if its just a scented one in the bathroom...I need all the help I can get! no gold yet this year!

Drinkin',smokin',and swearin' you qualify for the Amen row in my Baptist church, but we do have a lot of good folk also so No offense meant--I've been on that same row myself.
Hope you find that gold.

Atleast you got silver! Next friday I have the day off lets hit one of the lakes up in oceana that we like.

A nice silver medal and a junk gold is a step in the right direction. I can attest, though, one candle won't get it. My wife buys them by the gross for me. On any given day, I need about a dozen going for me. Good hunting, none the less. HH jim tn

 that was one funny post Mud! I have a one of those large candles that is thick as a Dinty Moore Beef stew can. Three wicks in one... Cool find on the St. Chris sterling medallion! Hang in there Mud - gold is on the horizon or you. Maybe one of those little Goby fish (since they seem to ingest just about everything) will start hacking on the gold diamond ring it noticed at the bottom of the lake. Then spit it up near shore for you. After all, you did release the goby instead of going on a murderous rampage. This could be a big payback for you.... I will go light that candle. :)

I would be happy to find a junk ring at this point! Nice finds, though!

p.s. I leave my readers in the car, too, that way I can pretend longer.
