Tried the EXcellerator 4.5 X 7" coil yesterday

And I really think it's going to be a keeper for sure.
It did great up close and personal along side some old iron rails and was really good in the aluminum trash areas. Depth seems to be excellent and my MXT appeared to run a little quieter than compared to my Whites 4x6.
I know I've been over these targets several times before but just couldn't get a clean hit on them, they were simply to close to junk.
Nothing found was over 7" deep but this coil works like a champ in heavy trash. I got one small coin spill of wheat cents hiding close to some can slaw and various kinds of metal junk, the wheats were right in the middle of the trash but the MXT heard them :)
The ring was within a few inches of a heavy iron post that was used for a swing set, the stick pin was buried right beside a long piece of steel strapping material and was actually touching it in spots as you can see from the pics where the rust left stains.

Congratulations Mike,

Very nice looking ring and pin. The opal and amathyst ring is really pretty. Is it gold? Also, is that also amathyst in the pin?

BTW, thanks for the info on the 4-1/2 x 7 coil.

The ring is gold and the pin tested 10 kt. but the pin shaft part itself is either silver or white gold, not sure but the rust stains came right off with very little rubbing. The amethyst is chipped on the pin and I might have it replaced, sure looks better in person though. I love finding old antique jewelry.

They are truly very nice pieces. It looks as if replacing the amethyst would be worthwhile.

Congratulations again

that isn't too small, works great in nasty trash, gets reasonably good depth, and hunts quieter than some others smaller coils. It's one of my favorite coils for the likes of an MXT or new Matrix M6.

Nice finds, Mike. I hope that sort of success continues!

Would you say it does a better job than the whites 4x6eclipse and where did you buy your excellerator coil,Kellyco.

than all three in any application I used them in. Better depth and more reliable Target ID.

I got my 4

What readings did you get on the ring and pin while being nextto and in the middle of junk?

than the X-5. Don't get me wrong, it's a great detector but even with the new DD coil on the X-5 it had a hard time getting good depth here.
It worked great for me in other places like in Florida but in the iron belt where I'm at now I prefer my MXT and Minelabs.

and sounded clean right on the tip of the coil, both were clean seperate hit's and one of the nice things about this coil is the seperation quality.
