I got out today with my buddy Joe to see if I had learned anything from the few questions I had asked this forum. All I can say is they worked quite well. I was using my Joey coil on my SE I only found some clad but had a much easier time deciphering the smart find screen. I found some pull tabs and a rifle casing. Was looking for nickels and rings also but only managed the tabs. I went away feeling more confident with the readings and what they represented. My buddy Joe was using his Explorer II with the pro coil and found several wheaties and a silver ring. He was only digging the deepest finds looking for silver. I believe that I would have found some wheaties and possibly a ring if my Joey coil could get deeper. I compared my Joey coil against his Pro Coil and his coil found signals mine would not.I am confident I will find more silver if my coil swings over it.

I can get out around 8" on my joey in the test garden I have.
I don't have the Pro coil so I can't say anything about that one. But the joey is great.
Generally speaking though digger coils will go deeper when there isn't to much trash around.

That Joey coil should dig 999999 percent of all the rings you might be looking for. Unless there has been a lot of soil movement most rings dont settle that deep. I think air testing some jewerly might help. For me jewerly has a more solid sound that pulls do. I also find more of my rings fall just above the 10 06 digital reading where most tabs in my area fall. Ring hunting, unless on a beach, is a challenge... you almost have to disc out the top part of your screen to cut down on distractions... or do what i did and make a pattern. But then... you have to be willing to say im ring hunting today. Now thats hard to do.

Since the weight to surface area ratio is much greater on a ring it will sink faster than a coin of the same metal.http://www.dankowskidetectors.com/loveisdeep.htm
