Tried lock in trash, was surprised

I detected a very trashy area with the lock on, using the 6.75 x 10 dd coil. Usually I average about the same # of pulltabs as nickels when using track. This time in lock I got 7 nickels & no pulltabs! I wonder if this was a coincidence, or if the disc is slightly more accurate in lock? Guess I'll have to wait a few months to try it again. All of these nickels locked onto 20. Also, had ID jumping between half & dollar numbers & got three quarters together. The IDs jump around starting at 3"-4" in some ground minerals. I dig the jumpers that stay in the coins region and get a few down 6"-7". I could get a few more inches, probably, if I dug everything, but don't think I'd enjoy that. HH, George (MN)

on my MXT or XLT and very seldom on the XL Pro.
I like the very quick 'update' that's available on the MXT at the flip of a toggle. When I get to a site I like to get a 'right-on' GB for the more mineralized bare ground and then lock it out of tracking. I found I get better overall audio, visual ID and a little better 'lock-on' to some deeper targets.

Very True Monte.
I have seen deep targets get tracked out after several sweeps. And I have also noticed a stronger lock onto the targets. As for visual ID I just dont rely on it that much. At some sites. particularly older ones I found your better to dig about all the good beeps and most of the not so good beeps . There are just to many things affecting the visual to completely rely on it, I dug a green nickel in the sand that showed iron and had a mixed beep, broken high and low and it still showed iron when layed on top of the ground. I read a lot of if not all of your post Mr Monte and have learned alot including not to much so much into the visual as you do the audio. I also have the 5 inch ex coil and use the 14 most of the time and personally dont care who comes out with what cause if it gets deeper that the 14 inch coil this hobby would get to be alot like work.
