So i switched on my se with factory reset settings and had a good day today finding a few small coins. I think its very easy to screw the perfomance up on a se - even slight malajustments hammer performance so beware. :ukflag:

I tried to sell my first Explorer several years ago. Finally something clicked with it and I've enjoyed it ever since. The finds will come.

One of the things I enjoy about this hobby is that it is a thinking man's (woman too) game. Some time at the test bench and garden goes a long way with this machine, even after you have had one for several years.

There are some guys on this forum that have forgot more than I will ever learn about the Explorer. I have to remember to try to get out of it what I'm capable of and only learn from them if I can. Never try to match what other people find. Your ground conditions and location has more to do with what you find than your detector.

Just try to do your best and have fun. Things will fall into place.

And that is half the battle.

Sometimes the machine in factory setup is optimal for your specific type of environment.

Here is a tip I do sometimes. I put it back into factory settings and just take it out of auto sens and bump up the sens to the point of instability then lower the sens to where it is stable.

I did that the other week and found all those indian head pennies.

Do you have a coin garden?

It is a turn on and go machine. That was designed for people like yourself that just want to enjoy the day not worrying about settings.
Enjoy, thats what it's all about.

i don't have a coin garden as my garden is loaded with iron trash , i need to clear a patch out of all the trash before i plant some coins. I have noticed i do better on iron infested sites with factory coins program sensitivity auto 22. Works a treat. Found some tiny coins too. i personally don't think that programming the explorer makes hardly any improvements on my sites. I will stick with turn on and go , the perfomance is great , no problems.
