Tried All Metal mode today with Cortes.

Have always used disc. mode. All Metal worked great out in the open grassy area of the park, not good near picnic tables. When I got a hit in AM, I then switched to disc. mode (min) and some of the smaller targets didn't sound off in disc., some gave just a tick, some a solid beep depending on depth. All Metal seems to get the deep small targets that disc. mode misses. Thanks Monte and others for recommending searching in AM. Maybe now I'll find some gold bracelets.

i have a question.when in all metal mode with the cortes do you have to have threshold hum.or can you keep the threshold counterclockwise before you get the hum..if that makes any sense.the hum is anoying in trashy areas but would be nice in nugget hunting areas without bullets and shells..thanks

Wildbill, in my experience I never run with the threshold set too positive(cw). I only need it in the barely
audible range to keep down any annoyance. Besides, threshold is mainly effective to help us to
hear those deeper signals that don't give a loud strong response, a condition that is usually not
practical in high trash areas anyway, which I'm sure you'll agree with, right?

It shows the same info in ALL METAL that it shows in DISC. mode. When there is little trash I search in All Metal. Really like the Cortes. I check the meter on each target and make sure I dig all low numbers, that's where the gold is. Today I found a girls 14K gold ring, Kennedy clad half dollar, 2 wheats and other clad. Of course, chopped soda can pieces show low numbers but that's where gold is, so I gotta dig the small aluminum pieces and the foil too.

Everything I have seen concerning the threshold hum indicates that it should be just audible. If it's objectionable, turn it down to where it isn't silent, but nearly so.
