Tried a UK set up at a Virginia home site loaded with square nails

V3i worked well. Accepted all vdi numbers, assigned three tone ranges for all vdi numbers, used 22k frequency, speed up the recovery speed, turned normalized off and set other controls based on the ground minerals. No threshold. I have been hunting this site for awhile now with the new Bug and the V got right in the iron and pulled large parts of two different shoe buckles and a flat button. Go V. I had an original V but I like the new V3I better. Smoother operation at the start up.

Really interesting post, being that I'm in Europe. How was the depth with the faster recovery (and what filters did you end up using)?

Have your tried putting the iron volume (at least a range of it) on 0 to better uncover targets? Seems like some experienced hunters said it was working for them and it makes sense compared to discrimination as why it would work. It even makes sense compared to a low iron volume as why it would work.

Thx

Shoe buckle was down in the 8inch range. I set two ranges of tone id for iron with the break being -40 to 0. I turned off the threshold but did not run iron volume at 0. The soil was mild in mineral and I ran 7 on the band with moderate sweep speed. Still need to tweak it a bit. Some cold rock sneaks thru around 65 to 67 with a short burst of high tone. I need to get a smaller coil so picking anything out of think iron with the 10 dd is great. I found an area with the two iron ranges hitting hard. Its a trash pit. Will dig it out later. I had a Goldmaxx and Vics Red Heats.

Slight tweak. First range of iron tone id is now -95 to -4. Second range of tone id is -3 to +60 Third range at + 60 to + 92. turn off volume to + 93,94,95 + 93 is a high tone culprit in my soil. Some small pewter buttons at depth will read slightly negative at times.
